Week 4 EOC: There's An App For That

An app that I think would be absolutely necessary is one that could develop ideas. Similar to the standard “notepad” it would be a word processing app however; this app you would be able to switch to a pencil tool and draw out storyboards or map out camera angles or movements. With the press of a button at the bottom of the screen you could upload to a dropbox account or to an email. For a filmmaker this would make for a quick and efficient preproduction process that you can take with you on the go and work on where ever you are. When I’m producing a short film I always find that the preproduction process is a pain and sometimes it just takes too long to get documents along to everyone. With this app you would be able to work on the same file together no matter where you are. So if your Storyboard artist is in LA and your Lead Writer is in Chicago working on separate assignments they could easily open up the app on an iPad or iPhone and get work done while staying in the loop of things on the progression of the film. Of course being in the same room as these people while working would be ideal sometimes deadlines are more important than quickly bouncing ideas off of each other. This app would at least have everyone on the same page with the same files working together all over the world. This app could even utilize the new DAW tablet movement and incorporate ProTools, for the SSE and all the other Sound Editors to be on the same page as well. This app would be called PrePro Workstation because it brings the workstation of Preproduction wherever you are.

Week 3 EOC: My Demographics

Generation Y: the generation born in the 1980s and 1990s, comprising primarily the children of the baby boomers and typically perceived as increasingly familiar with digital and electronic technology. I was born in May of 1993 I remember growing up mostly playing video games (N64, PS1, SEGA DreamCast) but, when I would go on the computer it wasn't for the internet it was to play Pinball or Minesweeper. Later in my youth I remember going online to play the internet sensation Neopets. It wasn't until 2006 did I actually start using the rapidly growing MySpace and YouTube. I was always using technology though so, I can relate to the definition of the Generation Y kids.

Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group - Video Games

The video game market in my eyes is declining ever so slowly. With Sony trailing in the big 3 I would give it a BCG rating of "dog." Although they have plenty of awesome 1st party games; today's society is diving into the 3rd party FPS games. Leading me to give Microsoft the 1st place prize and a BCG rating of "?" Even though it has a huge following the decline of video games gives it a low market share. Nintendo has always been the forefront of games in my eyes. Leading the big 3 in innovation and creativity. Unfortunately not everyone is a fan of the great Mario and Zelda franchises. I would have to give Nintendo a rating of "star" for they are always on top of innovation and have a loyal following. "In April 2008, Nintendo was ranked seventh in the annual BusinessWeek-Boston Consulting Group ranking of the world's most innovative companies. The award recognized the company as an innovative design powerhouse that had challenged the prevailing business model of the video game industry with its new video game console, the Wii." Week 1 EOC: My Voice

I am a professional in the field that specializes in Audio. Ever since I was little I had this insane fascination with sound. When I was just three years old I was already playing piano however; it wasn't until I was eleven that my parents finally enrolled me into music lessons. After working with my teacher for little over a year she took me into her friends professional recording studio to record me playing a song. As one could expect it was like being a kid in a candy shop! Ever since then the recording arts and sound have been my passion. I not only want to be one of the best recording engineers in the industry I want to be one of the most versatile. I also find myself infatuated with film, both audio and visual aspects. After watching one of DreamWorks' greatest achievements, Transformers (2007), who wouldn't be hypnotized into the world of sound and motion graphics. Whether its Picture Editing, Sound Editing, Sound Design, ADR, or Foley you name it I love it. I work hard on things I believe in and never give up when things seem impossible. "The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why."

Week 1 EOC: Great Customer Service

Being in the field of audio I require a lot of equipment, equipment I expect to work and last long. I went to Guitar Center a few times and received faulty equipment that was either already broken or broke within a few days of just regular use. Now, of course I was granted full refunds and all was fine but this made me never want to trust Guitar Center ever again. However luckily after being dragged down one last time I coincidentally was just asking questions about certain equipment and little did I know I was talking with the General Manager of Guitar Center, there in Town Square. He was awestruck about my experiences and was determined to make right how I was wronged. I ended up buying about $3000.00 worth of equipment, but with his help he slashed most of the prices down as much he could and gave me the pro insurance coverage for free. Since then I have been back to buy more gear and could not be happier. Whenever I arrive if the GM is there he still remembers me and makes sure I get taken care of while shopping.

"'Customer-service reps are trained to look on at least three rival Web sites if a shopper asks for specific shoes that Zappos doesn’t have in stock and refer customers accordingly. 'My guess is that other companies don’t do that,” Hsieh says. 'For us, we’re willing to lose that sale, that transaction in the short term. We’re focused on building the lifelong loyalty and relationship with the customer.'"
